Street lights
Quote from Jim McClure on September 4, 2024, 3:41 amThe recent HOA meeting included a complaint about the inability of our street lights to, like, shed light on the streets. I've always wondered why Jubilee chose street lights in dark amber instead of, say, white or yellow. (Had all the board members just had cataract surgery when the lights were installed?) I'd like to see brighter streets. If it's just a matter of changing out the bulbs. is it worth proposing to the planning committee?

Quote from admin on September 4, 2024, 8:01 pmGood idea. I would add that some of those lights, it's kind of a mishmash, look to be the old, orangish, high pressure sodium models which have been widely replaced by LED lights which are brighter, produce less heat and last much longer.

Quote from inquiringminds on September 30, 2024, 6:57 pmThere are long stretches on Jubilee Blvd with no lights at all. That said, there needs to be a balance between well-lit and over-lit. We need enough lights to adequately see the sidewalks and deter would be thieves, but not so much as to spoil our nighttime views. The overly bright lights of Meta/Facebook and the Walmart Distribution Center to the contrary, Los Lunas is SUPPOSED to be a "dark sky" community.

Regarding lighting in general, more could certainly be used used in dark stretches. In the dream world of an adequate community budget, they should all be replaced with down- lighting models. And hopefully those blazing sun-on-a-pole lights over at Facebook are temporary.

Quote from Jim McClure on October 1, 2024, 1:26 amI suspect the Jubilee planning committee also has a role here. They have been a sort of resident public works department, filling cracks in the pavement and overseeing sidewalks. Looking at streetlights may be in their wheelhouse.
