Scandanavia

This wide ranging destination was on our bucket list for a long time. We had been to Europe several times but never veered north. We don't go (so far) on planned tours so we figured out for ourselves what lasted about 6 weeks. Here's how it worked. We flew into Amsterdam and immediately rented a car. The next week we spent driving south thru southern Netherland and into Belgium. Along the way we visited the Hague, Bruges, Ghent, Brussels, Dinant and the beautiful countryside. Making a big loop we returned to Amsterdam and spent a week in this fascinating, bicycle crazy city, catching trips to the tulip filed and still operating windmills. Then we flew to Copenhagen Denmark and spent a week in this city of ultra modern architecture surrounded by water with all sorts great side trips including a great Viking museum. Next  we took a high speed train ride of 500 miles to Stockholm Sweden, situated on the western edge of the Baltic Sea.  This is an incredible city built on multiple islands, almost impossible to describe and hugely enjoyable. Super friendly people and great food. We were her for a week and took several retips outside the city, all on excellent public transportation. For the final leg of our vacation we flew across the Bergen Norway, a picturesque city on Norway's west cost. From here we travelled by train into the interior and the fjords to the towns of Flam and Balestrand. Norway's' natural beauty is entirely unique and incomparable to anything we're ever seen. The final few days were spent in Oslo - Norway's largest city. A town with great museums, side trips and tasty seafood. We flew back thru Frankfurt and happy to be home. But every bit of this trip was a joy and highly recommended. Talk to Steve or Lavae if you're planning on heading that way.

Sounds like an awesome trip! Never ventured that far north in Europe, but hope to one day.
